Eat It! by MattInABox Eat It! by MattInABox
Renaissance Festival in Minnesota. This owl was rescued and treated for a broken wing. Unfortunately, it can't fly anymore. I did get to watch it eat a mouse, which was pretty cool. Beautiful animals they are.

Very beautiful. I really admire the people who rehabilitate these wonderful animals. Rather tough luck for the mouse, but then I suppose owls don't like tofu. :D

I admire them too. Plus, it gives people the opportunity to learn about them because they raise awareness and educate at events like that!

Education is so important. There are incredibly stupid myths about raptors and owls. My neighbor was raised on a ranch and she still believes that Red Tailed Hawks, which are quite small, carry off newborn calves. She actually shoots hawks on sight whenever she visits home. It just makes me sick.

Awesome photo. Sort of reminds me of last summer at the vet I volunteer at. There was a wild hawk brought in for a broken wing, it couldn't fly either. I helped feed it some gutted mice in the morning. Gross, but oh well. xD It was a really cool bird. Red tailed hawk. Funny thing is it was 100 times more calm and 100 times easier to work with than any pet parrot we get there.

Red tail hawks are awesome! We had a family of them that would nest near our house several summers in a row. Unfortunately, I wasn't doing photography then.

I've had some land pretty close to me when I was riding my bike in my neighborhood before. They're amazing. We get lots of turkey vultures, too. They seem to like to fly dangerously close to cars. xD We never hit them though.

Beautiful and powerful animals. I do not want to be on the receiving end of those claws. Still, owls are very incredible.

Congrats to a lovely photo and Daily Dev. :)

Poor thing ... Must be sad to lose something like that ... Imagine it to be the same as for us to lose our ability of walking for example. :(
But still good that it got fixed and can live on. And awesome chance to see something like that! :)
I love owls, they are indeed beautiful animals! :)
